Changes cannot be made once an order has been placed.

A copy of the death certificate MUST accompany the Search of Wills Notice Application. If you require a death certificate, please visit VitalCertificates.ca for death certificates in Canada, or USVitalRecords.org for death certificates in the U.S.

  • Search of Wills Notice – Regular Service – 25 to 30 business days average processing and mailing time – $70.00 plus $5.00 for each additional variation of the deceased subject’s name provided (includes all taxes and mailing costs)

  • Search of Wills Notice – Rush Service – 5 to 8 business days average processing and mailing time – $105.00 (includes all taxes and mailing costs)

Fees include all taxes, search, shipping and processing charges.

If no record of a Search of Wills Notice is found by the British Columbia Vital Statistics Agency, fees will be applied to the search cost and will not be refunded by the Agency.

Who Can Apply for a Search of Wills Notice?

  • Anyone can request a BC Search of Wills Notice of a deceased person.

If the deceased filed a will notice prior to their passing, the result of the search will provide the date the person signed the wills notice, the location of the will at that time, and the date the Vital Statistics Agency received the wills notice.
