If no record of the death is found by the British Columbia Vital Statistics Agency, fees will be applied to the search cost and will not be refunded by the Agency.
All death certificates in British Columbia are mailed or couriered directly from the British Columbia Vital Statistics Agency.
A British Columbia Death Certificate is an extract of the information provided on the registration. It contains the name, sex, and age of the deceased at time of death as well as the date of death, place of birth, usual residence of the deceased (province & country only), registration number, and date of registration.
A Certified Copy of a British Columbia Death Registration is a photocopy of the actual death registration. The photocopy is certified as a true copy of the original.
