If you are applying for a Yukon Birth Certificate to support a separate application such as for a Passport, Driver's Licence, Immigration, or Native Status, it is important to check with the organization requesting the document to ensure you obtain the correct vital record. Changes cannot be made once an order has been placed.

Certificates ordered with regular service average 10 to 15 business days to be processed and delivered.

Certificates ordered with rush service average 5 to 8 business days to be processed and delivered. Requests for rush service will be processed within 2 business days and will be couriered to you.

If no record of the birth is found by the Yukon Vital Statistics Agency, fees will be applied to the search cost and will not be refunded by the Agency.

All birth certificates in Yukon are mailed or couriered directly from the Yukon Vital Statistics Agency.

Who Can Apply for a Birth Certificate?

  • The person who is the subject of the certificate.
  • A parent of the person who is subject to the certificate.
  • A custodial guardian, must provide guardianship papers.
  • An executor of the estate, must provide a death certificate.

Yukon Family Information Birth Certificate (Long Form)

The Family Information Birth Certificate is the document of choice for children 16 years of age and under, as it is generally required by government agencies, such as Passport Canada, SGI, Aboriginal Affairs. Includes the individual's full name, date of birth, place of birth, sex, registration number and registration date, PLUS the parents' full names and their province/state and country of birth.

Yukon Individual Information Birth Certificate

The Individual Information Birth Certificate contains the individual’s full name, date of birth, place of birth, sex, registration number and registration date. This certificate may not be ideal for children 16 years of age and under, as many government agencies require the additional information contained on the Family Information certificate.

Restricted Photocopy of a Yukon Birth Registration

The Restricted Photocopy of a Yukon Birth Registration is a photocopy of the actual birth registration filled out at the time of birth. This photocopy is certified as a true copy of the
